Presenting Hapag-Lloyd’s inaugural dry container tracking solution, “Live Position”, which grants comprehensive, on-demand, door-to-door visibility, the first of its kind in the world for CONTAINER SHIPPING services. By harnessing IoT technology in logistics on a global scale, Hapag Lloyd mark a milestone in the international shipping industry. Through the installment of tracking devices on more than two-thirds of dry container fleets, projected to cover all containers by end of 2024.
The “Live Position” service is designed to enhance international shipping services and streamline client interactions, states Hapag-Lloyd COO Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf. It bridges the visibility gap in global logistics, enabling real-time decision-making and risk management for clients, as well as efficient navigation of our container fleet.
Henrik Schilling, Head of Global Commercial Development, reveals that our successful pilot phase marked a crucial step towards addressing our customers’ concerns. As we embark on this new journey, we seek to further develop this product by integrating tracking data into the clients’ operational systems via API, and ultimately implementing the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) Prediction.
The “Live Position” is designed for ease-of-use, with a user-friendly interface and a flexible search functionality by container, booking number, or batches, providing clients real-time updates on shipments.
